1600 Vine Street Apartments is a mixed-use apartment complex located at the corner of Hollywood and Vine on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The 783,516 sq ft project consists of three 12-story towers and one 8-story tower with a mix of studios, one and two-bedroom apartments, and two-story townhomes. Amenities include rooftop terraces, a pool and spa, a business and fitness center, a lounge, laundry facilities, a Trader Joe’s supermarket, Wells Fargo Bank, Café Entourage restaurant and a Redline Metrolink station. Webcor worked closely with the project’s subcontractors to identify value engineering opportunities and get the best possible pricing. The team found numerous cost saving alternatives including the window systems and lighting fixtures. Webcor proposed the use of high-strength, 8,000 psi shotcrete for the project’s shear wall boundary elements. Shotcrete requires less complicated formwork than other types of concrete and can be done more quickly. Working with the structural engineer, Webcor produced shotcrete test panels and gained approval for its first-ever use in the city. This innovation saved $500,000 and eliminated a month from the schedule. Also, through meticulous planning and the use of 6 placing booms, Webcor completed 22 concrete deck pours in a single month. |
