The Electronic Arts Campus is the first phase of a 45-acre site for the world’s leading independent developer and publisher of interactive entertainment software. It has over 700,000 square feet in two high-rise office buildings, a parking structure, and a commons building with a full gymnasium. We were selected not only as the general contractor but also as a member of the development team, assisting in site selection and planning, consultant selection and design.
Working closely with the engineer, we optimized span length with beam depths, reducing tonnage and lowering the building height to the FAA maximum. To make the electrical power consumption cooling systems as efficient as possible, we studied Electronic Arts’ actual power usage and significantly reduced the design loads while still allowing for future capacity.
The 4-story parking structure features Webcor design build site cast panels, long span precast beams, and perimeter poured-in-place shear walls. This efficient design optimized the stall count, met the rigid city design guidelines, and was extremely cost-effective.
