Webcor completed this 177,000 square-foot LEED Gold tenant improvement project in just four months. The scope included three corporate office buildings to accommodate the company’s extensive staff and R&D. One building contained 30,000 square feet of unused clean rooms and laboratory space that Webcor modified for SunPower to reuse. The remainder of the project contains open office cubicle space, private offices, conference rooms, and break rooms. The build-out included a new café, fitness center, and exterior courtyard. The café and courtyard were completed after tenant move in to the renovated office space, and required careful coordination with ongoing normal site activities.
The renovations included infrastructure for a rooftop solar array and space frame over the courtyard supporting tracker solar arrays. The project displays several unique features including 27 five-foot diameter bubble skylights, a 28-foot square skylight over the main lobby, feature conference rooms with full video-conferencing capability and wall coverings made of sustainable cork, teaming areas defined by crisscrossing glue-laminated columns set at five-degree angles to frame the space creating a weave-like effect, and an employee courtyard with a 20-foot by three- foot natural gas fire pit and outdoor heaters.
