The build-out for the Museum of the African Diaspora includes space on the first three floors of the St. Regis Museum Tower at Mission and 3rd Streets in Downtown San Francisco. The museum’s façade is highlighted by a photographic artwork that is three-floors in height and made visible to the street through a glass curtain wall and a transparent stair and handrail system.
The space includes approximately 14,000 sq ft of exhibit, theatre, meeting room, retail, and office space. Some of the museum’s features include interactive video exhibits, a theater and sound room. The Educational Center and Founder’s Library were constructed in the historical structure which was integrated into the St. Regis Museum Tower.
Webcor donated the construction services in support of this first-ever Museum of the African Diaspora and worked closely with the San Francisco Redevelopment Agency which provided the funding for the majority of the construction. The project is an example of Webcor’s commitment to supporting the cultural life of San Francisco.
