San Francisco Public Utilities Commission Headquarters

+

San Francisco Public Utilities Commission Headquarters located in San Francisco, CA is a ground-up, Type I concrete office project. The project is designed by KMD Architects. This CMAR project totals 277,908 square feet throughout one structure with 13 levels above grade and one level below grade. Surface parking totals 408 square feet and 4 stalls. The build-out of this class A building, designed to last 100 years, includes an innovative post-tensioned and self-centering structural system, Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition center, emergency operation center, childcare center, café, and public exhibition/education center. The new headquarters consolidated the commission’s several hundred employees into one building. The design has minimal setback and fronts the sidewalk with large glass panels that allow pedestrians to view the interior café, lobby and public exhibit space. Sited within San Francisco’s Civic Center Historic District, the new landmark provides a dramatic modern sculptural contrast to the center’s neoclassical vernacular, and complements the center’s other modern, post-modern, and contemporary buildings. Webcor self-performed concrete, carpentry, and building specialties. This project is LEED Platinum®.
