Washington Hospital's Morris Hyman Critical Care Pavilion needed to modernize five critical departments — perioperative, imaging, sterile processing, pharmacy, and security — without disrupting the patients and staff surrounding the work on every side. Webcor is delivering the interior infill build-out across the ground and first floors under a CMAR structure alongside Construction Manager Jacobs, self-performing concrete, drywall, doors/frames/hardware, and carpentry throughout.

Washington Hospital is a functioning acute care facility that cannot slow down — which makes modernizing its critical care pavilion one of the most operationally demanding types of construction work there is. The Phase 3A Infill Project consolidates and relocates five departments into new, purpose-built space within the Morris Hyman Critical Care Pavilion: perioperative, imaging, sterile processing, pharmacy, and security. The goal is not just new square footage — it's a more functional, safer, and better-coordinated care environment built around how the hospital actually operates.

With occupied patient care floors above, below, and on all sides, the project demands infection control protocols, complex phasing, and scheduling precision at every stage. Scope extends beyond the infill itself to include renovations to mechanical spaces, shafts, and electrical risers throughout the facility, minor exterior improvements, and coordination across interconnected utility systems — all sequenced so that no single trade action creates a ripple that reaches a patient.

Webcor is self-performing concrete, drywall, and carpentry, bringing the full depth of in-house trade capability to one of the most logistically unforgiving environments in construction. The CMAR delivery structure — with Jacobs serving as Construction Manager and Ratcliff as architect of record — requires tight integration across all parties from preconstruction through execution.
